George Lynch was recruited to the 7th NJ Volunteer infantry on Dec. 30, 1863 on a 3 year enlistment where he joined Company K.

He was badly wounded in action near Petersburg, Virginia and died at the Harewood U. S. Army Gen. Hosp., Washington, D. C. on July 1, 1864.
