Moses Berry enlisted on September 15, 1861 and joined the 7th New Jersey Volunteers, Company K. Little is known about his war services, but records state he contracted pneumonia while on march, and died in the 7th’s camp on the Lower Potomac in Maryland on January 29, 1862. He was 18 years old.

He is buried in Hurdtown Cemetery, in Jefferson, New Jersey.
